Yoga as a way of living

Hi, I'm Shirly Yan — co-founder and owner of Veya Yoga. My journey with yoga began not in a studio, but in the quiet moments of my own life when I needed grounding the most. What started as a personal practice became a calling.

I believe yoga is not just something you do — it's something you live. The breath, the presence, the kindness you bring to the mat travels with you long after you've rolled it up. That belief is the heartbeat of everything we do at Veya Yoga.

Alongside Benjamin, I built Veya Yoga with one guiding vision: to create a space where every person feels genuinely seen and supported — not as a number, but as a whole human being with their own story and pace.

Outside of the studio, I'm passionate about holistic wellness, restorative practice, and the small daily rituals that keep us connected to ourselves. I bring that same warmth and intentionality to every class I teach and every student I welcome.

What I believe in

01

Yoga is for everyone

There is no prerequisite for practice — no perfect body, no prior experience required. The mat is a place of welcome, and every session I teach reflects that commitment to radical inclusivity.

02

Rest is part of the practice

We live in a culture that glorifies effort. I teach my students that stillness, restoration, and gentleness are just as powerful as strength and challenge — sometimes more so.

03

Community over competition

Veya Yoga was built on relationship, not performance. I'm here to walk alongside you — to celebrate your wins, support you through the harder days, and remind you that you are enough.

Meet Benjamin too

Veya Yoga is built on the combined passion of two instructors who each bring a unique perspective to the practice. Together, we're committed to offering you the most personalised yoga experience possible.
